Do You Want to Become a Yoga Teacher?

You’re thinking about taking yoga teacher training and you’re expecting to learn philosophy, the details of the poses and their alignment, sequencing, assisting, and maybe even a sprinkle of the history. We have all been in a yoga class where you hear something about Yoga Sutras or the Yamas and Niyamas. You like what they’re saying, but you have no idea what a Yama is. If you’ve been having the desire to dig deeper into the world of yoga philosophy, then a yoga teacher training program is the place for you. The word “yoga” can have several translations, but Pantanjali’s Sutra 1.2 tells us that the definition is “quieting the mind chatter.” If you’ve been wanting to live a more peaceful and mindful life, teacher training can help provide you with the tools to do so. 

Mind, Body, & Spirit: 
Connect with yourself --- you hear teachers talk about it and maybe you think you're starting to really connect with yourself and your inner knowing. When we dedicate ourselves to something like a RYT-200 program, we are committing to showing up for ourselves on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. We start to gain true appreciation for all the wonderful things our bodies can do. Our bodies really start to build the connection with our hearts, our minds, our breath and really allowing all parts of ourselves to work in unison. 

We all crave human connection and we want to focus on community. In our teacher training program, community and training go hand in hand. You will be spending lots of time with the folks in your training and you’re all going through the same program together. It’s undeniable you will bond through challenges, celebrations, and milestones within your teacher training. We really believe you will create a family you never knew you would have and stay in touch after the training has ended. If you’ve been yearning to deepen your practice surrounded by an amazing community of people, there’s no better place than yoga teacher training (YTT). You’ll meet people that are as equally motivated as you to learn more about yoga and to share their practice.

Gratitude for yourself and others:
When we take some time for ourselves we are able to appreciate all the great things that have happened and do happen daily. We are able to look at the smallest things and cherish them and therefore focus on how we can start to share our joy with others. 

Meditation Practice: 
We hear constantly that we “should be” meditating everyday but most people feel (including most of us here at the studio) very intimidated with the act of meditation and sitting in stillness. The best advice we give people about mediation is the fact that there really is no right or wrong way to meditate. Sitting in stillness, awareness, even if it’s just for 3 minutes is meditation. We will explore all different ways to meditate and hopefully you will find a practice that sits well with you. Our hope is that you can take home a mediation practice with you!

Celebrating the ONE body we have: 
Loving and nourishing our bodies from the inside out is what yoga is really all about. When exploring yoga history and ayurvedic ways it can open new doors and new thoughts in how we can best serve our bodies so they can serve us! When we really take notice of what we’re putting into our bodies we have a deeper appreciation for what our bodies can do. Making sure we are nourishing our bodies through health from the inside out. A much bigger indication that you’re ready to attend yoga teacher training is that you are able to listen to your body. You follow your breath and you know when to drop into child’s pose when you need a rest. You are more intune with yourself --- MIND, BODY, & SPIRIT. 

Taking the dive, taking risks:
By stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something like a teacher training program, you’re putting in the time for yourself. You’re doing the work! You will leave this training more confident and believing in yourself in more ways than you can imagine.

Love for yoga:
Think you love yoga now? Your love for the practice will grow in a much deeper way. Expanding on all avenues of the practice. Learning more and more about how the asana practice is only one limb of the eight limb yogic paths. Having the “yoga bug” is a real thing. Wanting to share your love for the practice can be such a service. You may recognize all the benefits it has brought into your life, and you can’t help but to share your thoughts about it with friends and family. It’s a discipline that’s brought you a lot of health and happiness, and you’re eager to stay on the path, learn more, and perhaps share the teachings of yoga with students of your own. 

Better you = better world: 
Have you had the thought that you’d like to be doing something in life that benefits others? It’s important we realize that if we want to make the world a better place for all beings, the best place to begin is yourself. If you want to change the world, begin with changing yourself. Yoga is a service and our teacher training program is geared around how we can use our yoga to service others!
