Spring Has Sprung!

Theme of the Month: April - Taking YoBa Off Your Mat

The transition from the hibernation of winter to the vital energy of spring often makes us more aware of the environment around us. We notice the budding flowers, the return of birds and frogs, and the extra light at the end of the day.

We love YoBa because it's a lifestyle - not just an hour class that we take. How can we challenge ourselves to live out our best YoBa life?

  • Commit: choose a full-day or half-day retreat. We even have our upcoming local Wrightsville Beach retreat! Don't forget Members receives 15% off.
  • Pull the plug: unplug all appliances except your fridge. If you haven't done this we HIGHLY recommend it. A few of us here at the studio have started to incorporate this on Sundays and we have noticed the biggest difference going into Mondays.
  • Go tech-free: power down your computer, cell phone and television.
  • Park it: keep your car parked and walk, bike or ride the bus if you want to go somewhere. We have had several YoBis riding their bikes and walking with their mats to class. We LOVE to see this!!
  • Tune in: notice your surroundings and your personal energy (notice how much more present and aware you are without the distraction of your phone or internet). Sometimes it can be something as simple as stepping outside and just looking up at the sky.
  • Illuminate: the days are longer now, so see if you can get by on natural light. Or, light some candles in the evening.
  • Connect: spend time with friends and family and the people that you feel surround you with truth, authenticity, and love.
  • Breathe: practice asana and meditation.
  • Reflect: read something that interests or nourishes you.
  • Get playful & grateful: get outside, be playful, appreciate the beauty of the world, and revel in your existence.
  • Try something new!! Maybe this means that barre class that you have always wanted to try and vice versa. Remember that YoBi's do both ;)

We always want to know what you're up to outside of the studio. Don't forget to tag us in all things you do! #yobastudio

We also wanted to share our FOUR THINGS Friday... just a few things we are loving this Spring and wanted you to know all about them!

1.) Cocokind Organic Skincare
Many of us around the studio swear by these sticks. They are a great alternative to makeup, feel great, and always make us feel like we are really taking care of our skin especially after working on our inner selves. We also love this powerful women owned company! The skincare line is made in San Francisco by strong women for strong women :)

The three USDA organic skincare sticks are MACABEET Tinted Moisture Stick for the most natural lip pout and cheek blush, TURMERIC Spot Treatment to treat breakouts and brighten skin tone, and YoBa's favorite MYMATCHA All-Over Moisture Stick for dry lips and skin.

-MACABEET Tinted Moisture Stick: Organic virgin olive oil, organic beeswax, organic beet root, organic maca root

-TURMERIC Spot Treatment: Organic sunflower oil, organic beeswax, organic turmeric root, organic ginger root, organic tea tree oil

-MYMATCHA All-Over Moisture Stick: Organic virgin coconut oil, organic beeswax, organic matcha tea

This reishi many of us YoBis look forward to every single night! Anything called "liquid yoga" we had to at least try...after a few nights many of us were hooked! The calming affects from these mushrooms are no joke. It's a must try! Drink it “straight up” with hot water or add a nut milk and/or sweetener of your choice. Sip 1 hour before going to bed or double dose during a stressful day. We love it with hot water about two hours before bed!

We are all obsessed with Outdoor Voices - from their pants (of course) to their tanks, sweatshirts, crops, and let's face it everything they have! We feel like this is the brand that takes us from YoBa to Juicekeys, to walking the pups, back to YoBa and everything in between. Guys...they have free shipping and free returns .... you have no excuse! We suggest just starting out with a pair of leggings first, if we had to decide! ALSO, another powerful women owned company...we all have a slight girl crush on Tyler Haney...she is the cutest and is so community-driven!

We love to pair both of these with our cup of reishi for a relaxing and calm self-care evening!

Gaba is short for gamma-Aminobutyric acid, a naturally occurring chemical in your brain that functions as a neurotransmitter that slows the firing of neurons (the opposite of adrenaline). One a day!

Kava has very potent relaxation effects. The Kavalactones in the root of the plant have sedative effects on the brain and nervous system. This root can also aid in relieving migraines and inducing sleep.

This with the cup of reishi at night will have you sleeping your best nights in no time. We all know how important sleep is and we love that there are so many natural remedies to make sure we are getting our best rest.

Please note that these are just some things we love and work for a few of us. They haven't been prescribed to us in anyway but please consult your doctor before trying any of these.

You can get all these at Whole Foods or Amazon.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
